PUBLIC NOTICE
Doctor Mário Lino Barata Raposo, Full Professor and Rector of the University of Beira Interior, hereby announces that, for a period of thirty working days from the working day immediately following that on which this notice is published in the Diário da República, an international call for applications is open, in the form of a public employment contract for an indefinite period of time, for 1 (one) post and to fill the respective vacancy in the category of Assistant Professor, in the subject area of Computer Science (Architectures, Networks and Cybersecurity) on the teaching staff map of the University of Beira Interior, with the remuneration established under the terms of the applicable legislation in force.
This competition was opened by Order of the Rector no. 2023/RT/27, de 15/03, and by Order of the Vice-Rector no. 2024/RT/126, de 17/12, after issuing the declaration referred to in no. 5 of article 24 of Law no. 80/2013, of 28 November. 80/2013, of 28 November, is governed by the terms of articles 37 to 51 and 62-A of the University Teaching Career Statute, approved by Decree-Law no. 448/79, of 13 November, as amended by Decree-Law no. 205/2009, of 31 August, and amended by Law no. 8/2010, of 13 May, hereinafter referred to as the ECDU, and other applicable legislation and regulations, namely the Regulations for Competitions and Hiring for the Academic Career of the University of Beira Interior, hereinafter referred to as the Regulations, republished in the Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 79, of 23 April 2021.
The competition will end when the post put up for tender is filled, and the following provisions will apply.

2. Professor to admit to performing their duties at the University of Beira Interior.
3. The duties to be carried out in the disciplinary area in which the competition is open are based on the fact that the research to be carried out will be integrated into one of the units/poles, with financial autonomy, based at the University of Beira Interior or in Associated Laboratories of which it is a participant.

2. In addition to the requirements referred to throughout point 3, it is a requirement for admission to the competition, under the terms of articles 37, 38 and 41-A of the ECDU and article 12 of the Regulations, that the applicant hold a doctoral degree in the field of Computer Engineering.
3. If the doctoral degree was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must be recognised in Portugal, under the terms of the applicable legislation.
4. This formality (recognition of degree and academic title obtained abroad) must be fulfilled by the application deadline.

Applications must be submitted by 5.30 p.m. on the 30th working day following the date of publication of this Notice in the 2nd Series of the Diário da República, electronically in non-editable PDF (Portable Document Format), via the platform made available for this purpose on the University of Beira Interior's website, or on paper at the Rectory of the University of Beira Interior (Third Cycle Sector, Teacher Competitions and Academic Acts), Convento de Santo António, 6201-001 Covilhã, in person, during public opening hours, Monday to Friday, from 9.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., or by registered post, dispatched by the deadline for submitting applications.

Interested parties must apply for admission to the competition by applying containing their full name, affiliation, number and expiry date of legally accepted identification document, date of birth (to be proven by documentary evidence), place of birth, profession, residence or contact address, email address, telephone number and a declaration of honour stating that the information or facts contained in the application are true.
7. Candidates who prefer to submit their application online, in non-editable PDF format, must organise the different parts as separate files, duly identified, and submit their application by accessing and registering on the electronic platform provided for this purpose on the University of Beira Interior website.
8. The application for admission to the competition, to be submitted in non-editable PDF format, must be digitally signed using the Citizen's Card or Digital Mobile Key, together with all the documents listed in point 3.3.1.
9. Candidates who do not have a Citizen's Card or Digital Mobile Key may send their application for admission in printed form, duly signed, by post to the 3rd Cycle Sector, Teacher Competitions and Academic Acts, Universidade da Beira Interior, Convento de Sto. António, 6201-001 Covilhã.
10. Candidates who prefer to submit their application in person must submit the application for admission to the competition, the form for which is available for this purpose on the University of Beira Interior website, accompanied by a digital medium (USB stick) containing a copy of all the application documents listed in point 3.3.1.

12. The application must be accompanied by the following documents:
13. A certificate or diploma proving that you hold a doctoral degree in the field of Computer Engineering and, where applicable, a document proving that the degree, title or certificate awarded by a foreign higher education institution has been recognised in Portugal;
14. A copy of the candidate's Curriculum Vitae, duly structured in accordance with the criteria and parameters set out in point 7.5 of the Notice of Competition, failing which the candidate will be excluded;
15. A document indicating the five pieces of work that the candidate considers to be the most relevant, as well as a brief justification of their relevance;
16. A copy of all the works mentioned in the Curriculum Vitae, with an indication of their quantity;
17. A copy of the Report on their scientific and teaching performance and other activities relevant to the mission of the University of Beira Interior;
18. Criminal record certificate proving that you are not disqualified from exercising public functions or prevented from exercising the functions for which you are applying;
19. Declaration by the candidate that he/she has the physical strength and mental profile to fulfil the professional duties for which he/she is applying;
20. Proof of compulsory vaccination (anti-tetanus);
21. Declaration indicating the candidate's e-mail address to which communications and/or notifications within the scope of the tender procedure may be sent.
You are not required to submit any documents proving that you meet the general requirements for appointment to a public post referred to in points e), f), g) and h) of point 3.3.1; you only need to declare on your honour, either in the application itself or in a separate document, the precise situation in which you find yourself in relation to the content of each one.

José Nuno Fonseca Oliveira, full professor at the University of Minho;
Luís Filipe Barbosa de Almeida Alexandre, full professor at the University of Beira Interior;
Miguel Nuno Dias Alves Pupo Correia, full professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon;
4.2 Operating rules of the jury:
The selection board will operate in accordance with the provisions of articles 50 and 51 of the ECDU and this notice. The jury is responsible for carrying out the following actions:
1. Deliberate and give reasons, in writing, as to which candidates are successful or unsuccessful on absolute merit,
2. Carrying out the curricular assessment,
3. Sorting and selecting candidates, and
4. Organising public hearings and hearings for interested parties.
5. Decision on admission of applications:
Once the deadline for submitting applications has passed, the Rector will issue an order admitting or not admitting them to the competition, which will be based on the candidates' fulfilment or failure to fulfil the conditions set out in points 2 and 3 of the Notice of Competition.
6. Assessment of Absolute Merit:
Applications admitted under the terms of point 5. are assessed on absolute merit, by a justified roll-call vote, where abstentions are not allowed.
7. Selection Method and Evaluation Criteria and Parameters:
The purpose of this competition is to ascertain the candidate's ability and performance in the various aspects that, under the terms of article 4 of the ECDU, form part of the duties to be carried out if, following the competition, they are hired.
8. Final ranking:
The final ranking of candidates is that resulting from the selection criteria set out in the previous point.
