About Aiera
We're excited to help our client Aiera.com, a fast-growing, well-funded American startup in the financial research technology industry, expand their team in the Algarve.
We're looking for a Senior Data & Reporting Analyst to own the centralized collection, validation, and distribution of management information across the company. This is not a role where you passively aggregate numbers from other teams — it's a role where you actively investigate, verify, and challenge data before it reaches leadership and investors. You'll be the person who ensures that every metric we report internally and externally can withstand scrutiny.
You'll work across every department — finance, engineering, product, and sales — to identify what data exists, what's missing, what needs to be more granular, and what story the data is actually telling.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
* You own the numbers. If it goes to leadership or investors, it passes through you.
* Auditor's mindset required. If something doesn't add up, you dig until it does.
* Build it properly. Improve or redesign reporting systems instead of maintaining broken ones.
* Full-company visibility. Finance, product, engineering, sales — you see how everything connects.
* Strategic impact. Your analysis shapes decisions, forecasts, and investor confidence.
* Lifestyle + career: Combine a technical role in a US-backed fintech with the celebrated mediterranean life style in the Algarve.
What You'll Work On
* Drive collection, verification, and reporting of all recurring management information for internal leadership and external investors
* Survey and coordinate with each department (finance, engineering, product, sales) to catalog all available datasets and define reporting requirements
* Work with stakeholders across the organization to co-design reporting dashboards
* Build and maintain KPI dashboards and reports aligned to the company's financial model, working through it line by line to identify necessary inputs
* Produce detailed customer segmentation analysis beyond high-level categories, including account-level usage data and event metrics
* Validate and audit all data before it is distributed — you are expected to approach every dataset with an auditor's mindset, investigating discrepancies rather than taking numbers at face value
* Develop and maintain regular data quality checks to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency over time
* Translate complex data into clear, well-organized reporting for diverse audiences including C-suite, department leads, and investors
* Guide and mentor junior analysts to manage data collection workflows and build institutional knowledge of the company's data landscape
Who We're Looking For
Must-have qualifications
* 5+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or management reporting
* Strong working knowledge of SQL to efficiently and accurately retrieve reportable data
* Demonstrated experience working with financial data and reporting to executive or investor audiences
* A natural auditor's mindset — you question numbers, trace them to their source, and flag when something doesn't add up
* Ability to work independently across multiple departments, managing competing requests and timelines
* Ability to work confidently in environments where data sources and structures still need to be aligned and structured
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills — your reports need to be clear to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to support professional work such as research, analysis, writing, and reporting — we expect all team members to leverage AI as a productivity tool for content production and communication
* Willingness to work 2–3 days/week in the office in the Greater Faro / Loulé area.
Nice-to-have
* Proficiency with BI/data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
* Working understanding of Python for data analysis or automation
* Experience building reporting processes from scratch or significantly restructuring existing ones
* Familiarity with SaaS product metrics (ARR, churn, customer segmentation, usage analytics)
* Background in audit, compliance, or financial analysis
Location & relocation
We're especially interested in candidates who are:
* Already based in the Algarve and seeking an international product/engineering environment, or
* EU / EEA / Swiss / Brazilian citizens (or others with the right to work in Portugal without sponsorship) who are interested in relocating to the Algarve.
How You Work (About You)
We look for people whose mindset matches Aiera's culture:
* You enjoy helping others succeed, and you see internal tools as a force multiplier.
* You're curious about the business context behind every request, not just the technical spec.
* You care about clarity and reliability: predictable tools, understandable error states, and good documentation.
* You're comfortable wearing multiple hats—sometimes building tools, sometimes debugging data, sometimes refining requirements.
* You communicate with empathy and patience, especially with non-technical colleagues.
* You value taking initiative and getting things done over rigid processes.
If you're energized by the idea of building internal tools that power a mission-driven, AI-focused fintech, and you'd like to grow your career in the Algarve, we'd love to hear from you.
