About the Role As a Secondary Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing secondary systems within high-voltage substations (110kV - 380kV).
You will work on protection, control, and automation systems that ensure safe and reliable power transmission.
Your expertise will contribute to the development of future-proof solutions for the energy transition.
This role allows you to work remotely from our brand-new office in Porto while being fully integrated with the bigger team of an energy infrastructure & grid solutions industry in the Netherlands.
You will collaborate with Dutch colleagues on high-voltage substation projects for Dutch clients.
Weekly contact with your Dutch teammates, quarterly visits to the Netherlands, and regular visits from your Dutch colleagues to Porto ensure seamless cooperation.
Additionally, your first week will be spent in the Netherlands, on-site, where you will receive a thorough introduction, allowing you to become fully immersed in our company culture.
Your Responsibilities Engineering & Design: Develop secondary system designs, including protection, control, and SCADA systems.
Technical Documentation: Create detailed wiring diagrams, functional specifications, and interface descriptions using tools like ELCAD, AutoCAD, or EPLAN.
Protection & Control Systems: Configure and program relay protection systems (Siemens, ABB, Schneider, SEL) and test settings for grid stability.
System Integration: Ensure seamless communication between protection, control, and SCADA systems through IEC 61850 protocol and conventional signal exchanges.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with primary engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure technical alignment and project success.
Innovation & Optimization: Stay up to date with industry developments and contribute to the digitalization and automation of secondary systems.
Your Profile Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 3 years in secondary engineering for high-voltage substations.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of protection schemes, relay programming, and IEC 61850 communication.
Software Proficiency: Experience with engineering tools such as ELCAD, AutoCAD, EPLAN, DigSi, or PCM600.
Analytical Mindset: Ability to analyze grid disturbances and optimize protection settings.
Language: Proficient in English.
Willingness to learn Dutch is advantageous.
Work Permit: Eligible to work in Porto while collaborating with the Netherlands team.
