Research Grant Details
One research grant for MSc graduates, reference BI|2025/711, under the scope of Project CARMA, funded by the European Commission, is available under these conditions:
Objectives | Functions
The CARMA project aims to develop social robots to assist first responders in emergencies. The grant holder will develop human-robot interaction scenarios, exploring modalities of interaction and collaboration, with a case study on using robots as guides in hazardous, low-visibility environments. Responsibilities include exploring robot capabilities, developing computational tools, and supporting user studies.
Legal Framework
Legal conditions include Law 40/2004 (Scientific Research Fellow Status), regulations of FCT, and INESC-ID Lisboa Grant Regulations. The fellowship is on an exclusive dedication basis.
Duration and Renewal
The grant lasts three months starting June 2025, renewable based on performance, within the maximum period allowed by FCT (up to 4 years including renewals).
Monthly Amount
The grant provides €1,309.64 monthly, paid via bank transfer to a Portuguese account.
Eligibility Conditions
Candidates must hold an MSc in Computer Science, with proficiency in Portuguese and English, and demonstrate enthusiasm, proactivity, and teamwork skills. Preference given to those with experience in social robotics.
Selection Criteria
Evaluation based on academic CV (60%) and related project experience (20%). In case of a tie, interviews may be conducted, weighted at 80% CV and 20% interview. Candidates scoring below 70 are not recommended for hiring.
