The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as the senior medical leader for the project and oversees the delivery of all medical and emergency care services to the onshore workforce and ensures effective clinical governance, medical risk management, and emergency medical response capability for both on-site and off-site incidents.
The CMO is responsible for maintaining the organisation's position as the primary healthcare provider within the workforce community. This role collaborates closely with client leadership, HR management, and organisational medical executives. The CMO also provides clinical leadership and guidance to all medical staff, including nurses, paramedics, technicians, and support personnel.
A. Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Clinical Leadership
* Provide senior leadership and strategic direction for all clinical services across the project.
* Develop and implement medical policies, protocols, and clinical governance frameworks.
2. Oversight of Patient Care
* Ensure all clinical consultations meet high standards of care, safety, and professionalism.
* Lead and supervise clinical decision-making, ensuring appropriate diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and referral pathways.
3. Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance
* Establish and maintain a robust clinical governance program, including audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and quality metrics.
* Ensure that patient records, documentation, and reporting meet organisational and regulatory standards.
4. Medical Operations & Facility Oversight
* Provide senior oversight of the site medical facility, ensuring operational readiness at all times.
* Advise on medical facility design, equipment procurement, and clinical resource allocation.
5. Emergency Response Leadership
* Serve as the senior medical authority in emergency incidents, coordinating with client emergency response teams.
* Provide medical command and oversight during on-site and approved off-site emergencies.
6. Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
* Represent the organisation and its medical services in a professional manner with client leadership and external partners.
* Promote health initiatives, preventive medicine programs, and workforce health campaigns.
7. Training, Education & Staff Development
* Ensure all clinical staff maintain required certifications, competencies, and skills.
* Provide training in advanced clinical topics and emergency medicine.
8. Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities
* Support the client's OH&S objectives and promote a safe and healthy workplace.
* Conduct incident reviews, hazard identification, and risk assessments related to medical operations.
9. Administrative & Additional Duties
* Provide high-level reporting on medical performance, health trends, incidents, and operational KPIs.
* Maintain readiness of first aid kits, emergency equipment, and medical supplies.
