Our client, an international company operating a portfolio of high-end luxury resorts in the Mediterranean region, is currently expanding its development footprint in Portugal. The company is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Director of Works / Senior Civil Engineer to lead major resort construction projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency across all phases of design and execution.
Role
The Senior Project Manager / Director of Works will oversee the complete lifecycle of resort development projects, from initial planning to final delivery. This role involves coordinating multidisciplinary international teams, managing design and construction processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and aligned with the company's quality and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of construction and design activities for large-scale resort developments.
* Manage and supervise contractors, subcontractors, and all on-site construction operations.
* Direct multidisciplinary teams including architects, civil and MEP engineers, and technical consultants.
* Develop and control project schedules, budgets, milestones, and performance indicators.
* Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines.
* Oversee risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to safeguard project timelines and costs.
* Maintain ongoing communication with internal stakeholders, external partners, and local authorities.
* Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and reporting to ensure consistent progress and adherence to specifications.
Candidate Profile
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related discipline.
* Extensive senior-level experience in resort, hotel, or other high-complexity construction projects.
* Strong technical understanding of construction processes, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Proven leadership experience managing international and multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent project management capabilities including scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and risk mitigation.
* Fluency in English; Portuguese is considered an advantage.
* Strong attention to detail, ownership, and a commitment to delivering premium-quality outcomes.
