Our client is seeking a Lead Data Engineer with strong expertise in designing and delivering cloud-native data solutions, particularly within Microsoft-based environments. This opportunity is suited to a technically strong professional with deep experience in data architecture, data modelling, and scalable pipeline development, who can help build high-performing data platforms aligned with business goals.
The role will play an important part in strengthening data-driven decision-making across the organization and enabling scalable analytics capabilities. In addition to hands-on technical depth, the client is looking for someone who can provide clear technical leadership, support the growth of other engineers, and contribute to the long-term evolution of the data platform.
Key requirements for the Lead profile
Technical background
Candidates should demonstrate solid experience across modern data engineering practices, including:
Strong end-to-end knowledge of data architecture and solution design, covering ingestion, modelling, storage, and orchestration patterns such as Medallion architecture
Proven experience in cloud-native engineering, with emphasis on Microsoft technologies such as
Fabric
,
Azure Data Factory
, and
Synapse
Exposure to other major cloud platforms, including
AWS
and
Google Cloud
, is also valued when supported by comparable tooling experience
Hands-on experience with data warehouse and data lake technologies such as
BigQuery
,
Azure Data Lake
,
Delta Lake
, or
Amazon Redshift
Proficiency in languages and technologies commonly used in data engineering, including
Python
,
SQL
, and
Spark
Practical use of Python data libraries such as
Pandas
and
Boto3
Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational database technologies, including examples such as
Oracle

MS SQL Server
,
MongoDB
,
ElasticSearch
, and
BigQuery
Experience applying
DevOps
and
DataOps
practices, including the implementation of
CI/CD pipelines
Ability to establish data validation processes, lineage controls, documentation standards, and monitoring practices at scale
Proven success in improving pipeline and storage performance while balancing reliability and cost efficiency
Strong technical leadership capability, with the ability to guide teams and communicate effectively in complex environments
Leadership and collaboration
The client is also looking for someone who can contribute beyond technical delivery by bringing strong judgement, communication, and team support, including:
Ability to assess trade-offs and make sound, well-justified technical decisions
Confidence in translating complex engineering topics into clear explanations for non-technical stakeholders
Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, promoting standards, and encouraging a collaborative engineering culture
Capacity to break down unclear or complex challenges into practical steps and lead them through to resolution
Ownership mindset, with the ability to anticipate issues and support the long-term development of the platform
Experience required
Minimum of
8 years of experience
in data engineering, with a strong focus on cloud-native solutions and data architecture
English language proficiency of at least
B2 level
