LIXIL is a global organisation undergoing an exciting digital transformation across its manufacturing landscape. We are looking for an MES Developer to join our international team in Albergaria‑a‑Velha and contribute directly to the evolution of our shop‑floor systems, data flows, and production efficiency.

About The Role
As an MES Developer, you will support the full software development lifecycle within a manufacturing environment, ensuring that digital solutions effectively connect enterprise systems with shop‑floor operations. You will work closely with users, engineers, quality teams, and IT stakeholders to design, develop, and optimise MES applications that enhance operational efficiency and data accuracy.
You will join a small, international team spanning Portugal and Mexico, working in a collaborative environment with coaching from experienced colleagues. The role provides exposure to new technologies such as Hydra X, S4 HANA, AI‑driven solutions, and modern integration frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering & Analysis
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and IT teams to understand business objectives.
Translate operational needs into clear technical specifications, functional designs, and configuration requirements.
System Design & Development
Design, develop, configure, and test MES applications, modules, and custom interfaces.
Implement new functionalities using appropriate programming or scripting languages.
Customise software and develop add‑ons tailored to plant requirements.
Integration
Ensure seamless, real‑time data exchange between MES and enterprise systems such as SAP and E‑Plant.
Develop and maintain interfaces, middleware components, and communication protocols.
Testing & Validation
Create and execute test plans, test cases, and validation protocols.
Ensure solutions meet business, quality, and compliance requirements.
Support & Optimisation
Provide advanced technical support, including troubleshooting and incident resolution.
Perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Identify opportunities for system and process improvements.
Maintain technical documentation, configuration guides, and SOPs.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
Degree in Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
2–3 years of hands‑on experience in MES, manufacturing IT, or software development environments.
Technical Expertise
Strong full‑stack development experience.
Proficiency in:
C#
SQL Server
Microsoft .NET Framework
Microsoft technologies
Experience with MES platforms and ERP–MES integrations (SAP preferred).
Understanding of industrial communication standards (OPC UA, REST APIs, MQTT).
Ability to troubleshoot across application, interface, and infrastructure layers.
Familiarity with IT architecture, cybersecurity, and system lifecycle management.
Experience with Google Workspace is an advantage.
