Role and responsibilities:
As Data Engineering Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading and evolving the organisation's data platform while managing and mentoring a growing data engineering team. You will work closely with analytics, product, and engineering stakeholders to ensure high-quality, reliable, and accessible data across the business.
Key responsibilities:
* Leading the design, delivery, and evolution of data platforms, pipelines, and models
* Ensuring data quality, reliability, performance, and scalability
* Planning and prioritising data initiatives aligned with business and product goals
* Providing technical leadership, architectural guidance, and code/design reviews
* Coaching and supporting data engineers, fostering strong engineering standards
Job requirements:
* 8+ years' experience working with complex data systems
* 3+ years' experience leading or managing data engineering teams
* Strong software engineering background (Python, Java, or Scala)
* Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases
* Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and data warehousing
* Experience working with large-scale data platforms
* Solid understanding of data quality, governance, and best practices
* Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
* Recent experience working at product-focussed, tech-first companies.
