Overview
ADAИ opens a call for 1 research fellowship within Project ESCIB - Developing environmental sustainability & circularity assessment methodologies for industrial bio-based systems (grant number 101135071), funded by the European Union. Scientific area: Engineering and Sustainability.
Responsibilities / Work plan
* Collaborate in the development of prospective Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and circularity assessment methodologies for biobased systems.
* Participate in meetings with companies and partners involved in the ESCIB project and assist in data collection.
* Collaborate in the preparation of scientific publications and project deliverables.
Qualifications
* Master's degree in engineering, energy, sustainability, or a related field. Enrolled in a PhD course at a Portuguese higher education institution, or in a non-academic degree course. This fellowship includes the payment of tuition fees.
* Knowledge in life-cycle assessment (LCA) and circularity assessment of biobased systems, or related areas, preferably with authorship of scientific publications.
* The non-academic degree course must be related to the scholarship activity; courses not conferring an academic degree are allowed under specific conditions described in the original call.
Regime
Exclusive dedication regime; fellowship is awarded the ADAI Fellowship Statute and respects the relevant Research Fellowship regulations of FCT, I.P.
Location
At ADAI-LAETA activities, workplaces may be the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Coimbra or other required locations.
Duration & Renewal
6 months, exclusive, with possible renewal but never beyond the project end date. Renewal determined by the applicable regulations.

Financial conditions
€1,309.64 per month (as per FCT table), plus personal accident insurance and potential social security reimbursement. Payment by bank transfer.
Selection process
* All applications received within the deadline and with required documents will be evaluated.
* Curricular evaluation criteria: 70% Life Cycle Assessment knowledge; 30% Motivation Letter.
* Interview criteria: motivation, autonomy, task knowledge, and start availability. minimum curricular score for interview: 75%.
* The jury may not award the scholarship if the candidate does not meet the required background and skills.

* The contract will be signed only if the candidate is accepted into the doctoral program or non-degree course.
Note: Foreign degrees require recognition and grade conversion to Portuguese scales; otherwise, curriculum evaluation may receive 0 points. Contracts with foreign degrees require proof of recognition and grade conversion.
Deadlines & Notifications
Application Deadline: 23 Oct 2025 - 23:59 (Europe/Lisbon).
Results: List by final grade sent by email; results announced within 90 working days after deadline, followed by a 10-day preliminary hearing period if comments are made.
