We are hiring a Senior UX Designer responsible for leading the design team, ensuring team performance, delivery, quality, and completeness. The role involves creating outstanding UX experiences and generating ideas for team-wide improvements. Our design team aims to transform complex open-source software into efficient, intuitive products that can revolutionize enterprise IT. We seek an exceptional user experience designer who shares this passion.
This role reports to a UX design manager and is based remotely within the EMEA region.
The role entails
1. Working with the open source community and Canonical customers to research new features and improvements.
2. Collaborating with product managers and engineers to shape the future of Canonical products.
3. Providing direction to the design team, aligning efforts with product strategy and best practices.
4. Developing and evangelizing design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency.
5. Addressing systems-level problems with interconnected constraints.
6. Leading end-to-end design processes for various challenges.
7. Shaping a working group to advance Canonical design horizontally.
What we are looking for in you
* Strong academic record from high school and university, or a compelling alternative narrative.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in User Experience, Design, STEM, or related fields.
* Passion for user experience, technology, and design.
* Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
* Result-oriented with a drive to complete work and celebrate successes.
* Confidence in user research practices.
* Engagement with the latest design research and innovations.
* Ability to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks.
UX designers should be excellent communicators, comfortable working with engineers, designers, and executives. They must present their design positions clearly, tackle complex design challenges confidently, and connect their leadership to the company's strategic vision.
