The Senior Commodity Buyer is responsible for the procurement of assigned components and materials. As part of the Purchasing team, the individual will provide inputs and implement strategies in alignment with plant and global procurement initiatives.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Overachieve Year over Year Cost Savings target for the respective commodity.
2. Execute sourcing process from RFQ to Contract / PO release, ensuring full alignment with involved functions including the Global Commodity Management team.
3. Implement Global Commodity Strategy, ensuring alignment on all sourcing projects.
4. Meet sourcing metrics such as project cost targets, year-over-year performance, sustainable savings, payment terms, and incoterms.
5. Coordinate closely with the Global Commodity Management team to meet plant requirements and execute commodity strategies.
6. Continuously benchmark commodities to ensure competitive landed costs using cost breakdowns, market studies, cost modeling, supplier suggestions, and cost-saving workshops.
7. Manage supplier relationships to achieve cost savings and drive continuous improvement.
8. Manage QVC requirements, including volume extensions and capacity planning.
9. Escalate supplier shortages and quality issues; negotiate cost claims.
10. Collaborate with Program Launch Buyer, Supplier Quality, and Engineering during sourcing and project reviews.
11. Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures related to sourcing.
Position Requirements:
1. Engineering or business degree with a minimum of 8 years experience in global supply management, preferably in the automotive sector.
2. Results-oriented team player with strong relationship management skills.
3. Ability to build business cases, interpret data, and perform NPV and Payback analyses.
4. Technical knowledge of processes, technologies, and cost drivers, including cost modeling tools.
5. Knowledge of automotive supplier qualification standards.
6. Strong interpersonal skills for interaction at all organizational levels.
7. Fluent in English (written and spoken).
