A research position is available for a talented biochemist to join our team in the field of Biochemistry Research. The researcher will be working on the project "SILANOL: Silanol-Based Lithocholic Acid Derivatives as Super Agonists of Vitamin D Receptor for Application in Breast Cancer Therapy".
Main Responsibilities:
* Our team is seeking a skilled biochemist to conduct molecular docking studies using the GOLD software to predict the binding affinity of compounds to the vitamin D receptor.
* The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on organic synthesis of steroidal derivatives based on the structure of lithocholic acid, including purification and structural characterization by NMR and HRMS.
* We are looking for an individual with experience in vitro toxicological and biological evaluation of the antiproliferative activity of synthesized compounds in triple-negative breast cancer cell lines.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of experienced researchers at the University of Porto. A strong background in biochemistry and experience in molecular docking, organic synthesis, and cell culture are essential requirements for this role.
Requirements:
* A bachelor's degree in Biochemistry with a final grade equal to or higher than 15 out of 20 is required.
* The ideal candidate will have proven experience in molecular docking, particularly with the GOLD software.
* Experience in laboratory synthesis of steroids, including lithocholic acid analogs is necessary.
* Solid knowledge of structural elucidation techniques, including NMR is also required.
* Practical experience in cell culture, with emphasis on toxicological studies involving triple-negative breast cancer cell lines is a must.
The fellowship will provide a monthly stipend of €1040.98 according to the stipend values established by FCT, I.P. in Portugal. Payment will be made by bank transfer on a monthly basis.
