NoOffer Description A competition is open for the attribution of 1 technician position in the framework of the projectInnoColor - Microbial pigments for a sustainable and innovative textile industry, funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Innovation and Digital Transition Operational Programme (COMPETE 2030) under the GA no COMPETE2030-FEDER-00865900 (no 15010), according to the following conditions:Scientific area:Biological or environmental sciences or other related scientific areaAdmission requirements:Any national, foreign and stateless candidate(s) who hold a Bachelor's degree or Integrated Master in the field of biological or environmental sciences or other related scientific area, and a scientific and professional curriculum whose profile is suited for the activity to be performed in terms of providing technical support to activities related to biopigment production screening, heterologous expression of biopigments, and their chemical analysis.In the event the degree was conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16th August, until the signature of the contract.Previous skills and experience required:Techniques for the cultivation and handling of actinobacteria and cyanobacteria, including their maintenance and the preparation of organic and aqueous extracts;Biological and molecular techniques and bioinformatics tools for actinobacteria and/or cyanobacteria identification;Basic knowledge and experience on methodologies for the isolation and chemical characterisation of organic molecules;Be fluent in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken;Have immediate availability (to be mentioned in the motivation letter).The jury reserves the right to close the application in case none of the candidates meets the desired profile.Work plan:The selected candidate will work for the project in the following tasks:The candidate will support the project by providing technical assistance to activities related to the screening of biopigments production by actinobacteria and cyanobacteria, heterologous expression of biopigments, and their chemical analysis.Cultivating actinobacterial and cyanobacterial strains for pigment production assessment;Preparation of organic/aqueous extracts from liquid cultures of actinobacteria and cyanobacteria;Carry out phylogenetic identification of selected actinobacteria and/or cyanobacteria;Perform quantitative PCR for gene expression analysis;Provide technical support in routine procedures related to the isolation and chemical characterization of biopigments;Perform data analysis;Preparation of intermediate project reports;Participation in dissemination activities.Legislation and official rules : Article 140, n. 2, g)) and Article 148, n. 4, of the Labor Code (Law 7/2009, of 12 February and respective updates).Work place : The work will be carried out at CIIMAR – Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research, Novo Terminal de Cruzeiros do Porto de Leixões, Av. General Norton de Matos s/n, 4450-208 Matosinhos, Portugal, under the supervision of Fátima Carvalho, Marisa Freitas and Marta Mendes.Duration of the contract:An unfixed-term employment contract scheduled to start in April 2026, under the legal terms in force (Labor Code).Monthly gross salary : Equated to the higher technical career: Level 19 – 1657,04€, food holidays and christmas allowance apart.Selection methodsRelevant scientific experience: 60%;Merit of the CV in the scientific area: 40%;Professional interview with the first three graders (up to 75%); interview weighs 30% and previous evaluation weighs 70%.The evaluation process may include a professional interview with the first three graders (up to 75%), which is intended to clarify aspects related to the career and experience, in which case the interview weighs 30% and the previous evaluation weighs 70%. If the candidates do not show up in the interview, they will be withdrawn from the application, being excluded from the competition.After selection criteria application, the panel shall prepare a sorted list of approved candidates and respective classification.Composition of the jury selection President of the jury: Maria de Fátima CarvalhoForm of advertising/notification of results The final results of the evaluation will be sent through a list sorting the candidates according to their attributed mark, by e-mail; in case of disagreement, the candidates have a 10-working day term in which to contest the decision, if he/she so wishes, as provided for in the Administrative Procedure Code in a preliminary hearing setting. The jury reserves the right to not assign the contract depending on the quality of the applications.Deadline for application and presentation of applications The competition is open from09/03/2026 until 20/03/2026.
