Offer Description

The School of Health and Human Development of the University of Évora, hereinafter referred to as ESDH, hereby publicly announces the opening of a competitive selection procedure for a period of 30 working days as of the working day following the publication of this Notice in the Diário da República [Official Gazette], for the recruitment, under a public employment contract, of 1 (one) Assistant Professor in the disciplinary area of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the ESDH of the University of Évora, pursuant to Articles 37th to 51st, 61st and 62nd-A, of the Estatuto da Carreira Docente Universitária [University Teacher Career Statute], re-published by Decree-Law No. 205/2009, of August 31st, and amended by Law No. 8/2010, of May 13th (hereinafter referred to as ECDU), and further applicable laws and regulations, particularly the Regulamento dos Concursos para Recrutamento de Professores das Carreiras Docentes na Universidade de Évora published in the Diário da República by Order no. 9696/2024 (2nd series), of August 21, amended by Order no. 2123/2025 (2nd series), of February 14, hereinafter referred to as Regulation.

In compliance with Article 9th (h) of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, Public Administration, as an employing entity, actively promotes a policy of equal gender opportunities in accessing employment and professional development, acting scrupulously to prevent any form of discrimination, in accordance with Joint Order No. 373/2000, of March 31st, issued by the Minister of State Reform and Public Administration and the Minister for Equality.

In compliance with Articles 37th to 51st of the ECDU and other applicable legislation, and with the provisions laid down in Article 8th of the Regulation, the following provisions shall be observed:

* Authorization order:the present open position was authorized by order of the Rector of the University of Évora, on 24/06/2025.
* Workplace: School of Health and Human Development of the University of Évora.
* Conditions for admission to the selection procedure:

III. 1. - Chapter VI of the Regulation is applied regarding verification and compliance of the requirements of admission and exclusion of the candidates.

III. 2. - In accordance with Article 41st-A of the ECDU, admission to this selection procedure is limited to those holding a doctoral degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences/Pharmacy by the time of the candidacy, and who are proficient in the Portuguese language, both spoken and written.

III. 3. - Holders of academic degrees awarded by a foreign higher education institution are admitted, according to paragraph e) of nr. 2 of article 4th of Decreto-Lei nº60/2018 of August 3rd, and the registration/recognition of the degree in Portugal must be carried out after the end of the competition, under the terms outlined in Decreto-Lei nº 66/2018, of August 16th, being a requirement for the act of signature of the contract.

III. 4. - Foreign candidates, except those from Portuguese-speaking countries, must submit an officially recognized document proving their proficiency in the Portuguese language (written and spoken).

* Absolute merit admission conditions

IV.1. - Article 12 of the Regulation is applied concerning admission on absolute merit of candidates.

IV.2. – The jury will deliberate on the approval or rejection in absolute merit, through justified nominal voting, where abstentions are not allowed. Approval in absolute merit is understood as receiving a positive vote of more than half of the voting jury members.

IV.3. – Approval in absolute merit depends on the possession of an overall curriculum that the jury considers having scientific merit, evidence of research capacity and of the value of the pedagogical activities already undertaken, compatible with the specialization of the disciplinary area of the competition, emphasizingApplied Pharmacotherapy and Pharmacoepidemiology, and suited to the category of Assistant Professor.

V. Evaluation and ranking parameters in relative merit, respective weighting and final scoring system:

V.1. -The method of selection is curricular evaluation. This curricular evaluation takes into consideration the general functions committed to Professors by article 4th of the ECDU, and is based on the following items:

a) Research;

b) Teaching;

c) Knowledge transfer;

d) University management;

e) Scientific and pedagogical project.

V.2. -In the application of the criteria defined in number V.1, the following parameters and weights will be used:

a) Research, with a weight of 45% and comprising the following parameters:

a1)Academic background;

a2) Scientific, cultural, artistic or technological production and its relevance;

a3)Participation in and/or coordination of research projects;

a4) Other scientific, cultural, artistic or technological activities;

b) Teaching, with a weight of 20% and comprising the following parameters:

b1) Teaching;

b2) Student supervision;

b3) Publications of text books with ISBN and other texts of pedagogical scope;

b4) Pedagogical innovation;

c) Knowledge transfer, with a weight of 10%, comprising the following parameters:

c1) Intellectual and industrial property;

c2) Contracts for the provision of specialized services;

c3) Training actions;

c4) Non-academic experience relevant to the subject area of the competition.

d) University management, with a weight of 5%, particularly in the management of teaching and research laboratories.

e)Scientific-pedagogical project, with a weighting factor of 20%, presented as follows:

:e1) Have a maximum of 5000 (five thousand) words;

e2) Proposal for scientific-pedagogical development consisting of a reasoned exposition of the candidate's vision for a time horizon of 5 years on the teaching and research activity that he/she proposes to carry out, preferably in the competition area, and its framing in their inclusion in research units, as well as their articulation with teaching activities at the University of Évora.The teaching component must be based on a proposal for the creation of at least two curricular units, with special emphasis on the preferred areas in this call for proposals. The project must be duly substantiated and up-to-date from a scientific point of view in Pharmaceutical Sciences, clearly identifying the objectives and competences to be achieved, as well as the pedagogical and assessment approaches considered necessary for their acquisition;

e3) The candidate's ability to explicitly integrate their research and teaching experience in the disciplinary area, bridging the gap between research and practice at the level of activities in Pharmaceutical Sciences, is valued.

V.3. - The Jury will rank the successful candidates on absolute merit, following the procedure set out in Article 22nd of the Regulation;

V.4. - The ranking of candidates results from the weighted average of the quantitative scores obtained in each of the evaluation parameters.

V.5. - Preferred parameters:

V5.1. - Being first author/corresponding author of recent scientific publications (last 5 years), in journals in the first quartile of the bibliometric databases Scopus or WoS, in the field ofPharmaceutical Sciences, with emphasis on Applied Pharmacotherapy and Pharmacoepidemiology, constitutes an additional parameter (AP1), with a value of up to 50% of the score obtained in parameter V.2a;

V.5.2. - Teaching performance in curricular units with syllabus content in the field ofPharmaceutical Sciences, with emphasis on Applied Pharmacotherapy and Pharmacoepidemiology, is an additional parameter (AP2), which is valued at up to 50% of the score obtained in parameter V.2b;

V.5.3. - Holding a pre-Bologna bachelor's or post-Bologna master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences is an additional parameter (AP3), worth 15 points;

VI. Public hearings:

VI.1. - The jury will deliberate at its first meeting on the need to hold public hearings of all candidates approved in absolute merit which are intended, exclusively, to clarify what is included in the curriculum vitae submitted by the candidates, under the terms of b), n. 4 of article 50th of ECDU, with all candidates being informed, at least five working days in advance, of the date and place where such hearings will take place.

VI.2. -Public hearings referred to in the previous paragraph may be held by videoconference, but the jury must guarantee that these are carried out on equal terms for all candidates.

VI.3. - According to b), n. 4 of article 50th of ECDU the jury may also request candidates to provide additional documentation related to the submitted curriculum .

VII. Application submission:

VII.1. - Applications must be sent within 30 working days from the day immediately following the publication of this Notice in Diário da República .

VII.2. - The application and the rest of the application documents must be submitted, preferably in digital format, in PDF, to the email address drhsc@uevora.pt or in person, during normal office hours (9am-12.30pm and 2pm-5.30pm) at the address below, or sent by registered mail until the deadline, to Universidade de Évora, Divisão de Recursos Humanos, Serviços Administrativos, Largo da Sr.ª da Natividade, 7000-810 Évora.

expressly identifying the number of the notice to which the candidate is applying for.

Candidates must expressly indicate their consent for communications and notifications within the scope of the competition to take place by email and their email address.

VIII.2. - The application must be accompanied by the following documents:

a) Documents proving that you meet the conditions set out in the call for applications, namely a certificate proving that you hold the required degrees and/or qualifications and a certificate of length of service (in the case of a civil servant);

b) The candidate's curriculum vitae, dated and signed, with an indication of the works carried out and published, as well as the teaching activities carried out. When drawing up the curriculum vitae, the candidate must comply with the organization referred to in point V.2. of this notice;

c) Works that you consider to be the most representative, up to a maximum of five works, and provide a brief description of their contribution;

d) Scientific-pedagogical project in accordance with point V.2 e) of this notice;

e) Other diplomas or certificates from the courses mentioned in the curriculum vitae .

IX. Language:

IX.1. -The documents supporting the application must be submitted in Portuguese.

X. Composition of the jury:

X.1. - The jury has the following composition:

Members:

X.2. - The Rector may delegate the presidency of the jury according to nr. 2, Article 6th of the Regulations.
