Key Responsibilities
As Commercial Director, you will:
* Provide strategic leadership for regional commercial teams, ensuring alignment with company standards and values.
* Oversee all aspects of commercial planning, budgeting, and cost/value forecasting at project and business unit level.
* Ensure robust contract administration in collaboration with legal teams, safeguarding compliance with scope, price, and schedule.
* Drive risk management processes and advise on dispute resolution to protect the business.
* Lead on business improvement initiatives, coordinating policies and procedures across regions.
* Partner with pre-construction and project directors to ensure seamless tender handover and procurement strategies.
* Support succession planning and talent development, ensuring recruitment, retention, and growth of high-potential team members.
* Keep senior leadership informed on key commercial and contractual risks that may impact business performance.
What We're Looking For
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
* Extensive experience managing large-scale, complex construction projects.
* Strong knowledge of commercial contract administration (JCT / NEC) and ability to adapt bespoke contracts.
* Proven track record leading commercial teams, including senior managers.
* Strategic thinker with excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
* Strong financial acumen with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and business planning.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Previous experience with a main contractor or large subcontractor in a senior commercial role.
* Membership of a recognized professional body (RICS, CIOB or equivalent) is desirable.
