ROLE SUMMARY The Head of Humanities is a key leadership position responsible for the strategic direction, management, and academic success of the Humanities Department. With a specialism in History, the successful candidate will ensure high-quality teaching across History, Geography, Business, Economics, and Global Perspectives. You will foster an environment of academic excellence, inquiry-based learning, and global citizenship, aligning with the PaRK IS vision of "future-proofing" students.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAcademic Leadership: Lead the Humanities faculty in developing a cohesive, innovative curriculum that spans from Key Stage 3 to the IB Diploma Programme.Specialist Teaching: Deliver outstanding History lessons at IGCSE and IBDP levels, focusing on critical thinking, source analysis, and "Glocalisation" (connecting global history to local contexts).Quality Assurance: Monitor teaching standards through regular lesson observations, work scrutinies, and data analysis of student performance in external examinations (Cambridge/IB).Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of subject specialists, facilitating professional development (CPD) and fostering a collaborative department culture.Student Support: Oversee student progress tracking and implement interventions where necessary to ensure every student reaches their full potential.Resource Management: Manage the department budget and physical resources, including the integration of educational technology into Humanities learning.Co-curricular Involvement: Lead or support enrichment activities such as Model United Nations (MUN), History clubs, and local/international field trips.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVEEducation: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in History (or related field) plus a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience, including proven success in teaching History at IGCSE and IB Diploma (Higher Level preferred).Leadership: Previous experience as a Head of Subject or in a middle management role within an international school setting.Language Skills: Exceptional written and spoken English (C2/Native equivalent).
