Data Centre Engineer

Partnered with a data centre specialist who operating in large and hyperscale data centres as well as AI integration and high density environments. Due to ongoing and won projects they are looking for Data Center Engineers and Operators to be dedicated to new and exciting projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform basic hardware support including server reseats, cable swaps, transceiver replacements, and drive swaps
* Carry out visual inspections, equipment status checks, and photo documentation
* Respond to support tickets promptly while following established procedures and runbooks
* Rack and stack servers, network switches, and PDUs
* Install and manage structured cabling including copper and fibre connections
* Label equipment and connections accurately
* Support asset tracking, serial number logging, and basic hardware testing
* Unbox, organise, and manage incoming hardware deliveries
* Handle RMA processing, shipping, and parts inventory management
* Maintain a clean, organised, and audit-ready work environment
* Update ticketing systems with detailed notes and supporting photos where required
* Provide clear shift handovers to ensure continuity between teams
* Follow all site health & safety, security, and access procedures
Candidate Requirements:
Essential Experience & Skills:
* 1–2 years of experience within a data centre, server room, IT operations, or similar hands-on technical environment
* Comfortable working with racks, cabling, hardware installations, and manual handling tasks
* Basic understanding of networking and cabling, including fibre and copper infrastructure
* Able to communicate clearly in written English for ticket updates and documentation
* Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern, including weekends and out-of-hours support where required
Desirable Experience:
* Previous Smart Hands or colocation/hyperscale data centre experience
* Exposure to technologies such as InfiniBand, QSFP/OSFP transceivers, liquid cooling systems, or BMC consoles
* Familiarity with ticketing systems such as Jira or ServiceNow
* Flexible to travel for short-term project or site support assignments
