Job purpose This position manages New Program Launches from the prototype phase through production launch, including cost estimating, Bill of Materials (BOMs), supplier selection, and handoff to Production Purchasing. It requires working closely with Advanced Product Launch Buyers (PLB) from both local and sister plants, Plant Commodity Purchasing, Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE), Supplier Development Engineers (SDE) and Global Supply Chain Managers (GSM) to source New Part Introduction (NPI) programs and components to meet company cost and timing targets. Key Accountabilities Coordinate technical evaluations of new components together with the Supplier Quality and Engineering teams. Prepare cost estimates for new components based on existing parts and supplier data. Send and follow up on RFQs, applying global and local sourcing strategies and ensuring contract formalization with nominated suppliers. Evaluate, with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Logistics teams, the cost breakdown of new components and required supplier investments in order to optimize costs. Ensure timely receipt of all necessary documentation for the validation of new components and their respective supplier tooling. Coordinate the relationship between suppliers and internal functions. Act as a key member in cross‐functional team meetings focused on New Program management. Develop continuous cost reduction initiatives through negotiations, contracts, VA/VE projects, and process analysis. Support the development of new suppliers that meet BorgWarner requirements regarding cost reduction, quality, and delivery. Provide support in Purchasing process audits related to New Programs. Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies. Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies. Use energy and resources efficiently, promoting consumption reduction in line with the Energy Management System (EnMS) policy. Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. Education / Experience Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering, Logistics or related field (preferred). 1–3 years of experience in Purchasing within the automotive industry (preferred). Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required. Experience in SAP purchasing module strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (considered a plus). Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Good English language skills (spoken and written). Proficiency level Portuguese (spoken and written).
