Location: Sines, Portugal (with travel across Europe) Job Type: 18 Month Contract to Permanent Overview An exciting opportunity for a skilled Data Centre Technician to support the delivery of data centre infrastructure projects across Portugal and Europe. The successful candidate will be responsible for PDU installation, Smart Hands services, rack and stack deployments, structured cabling, patching, change management activities, and general data centre operations within mission-critical environments. Key Responsibilities Install, commission, and test Power Distribution Units (PDUs) within live data centre environments. Provide Smart Hands support including hardware replacements, server reboots, equipment troubleshooting, visual inspections, and remote-hands assistance. Perform rack and stack installations of servers, switches, routers, storage devices, PDUs, and associated infrastructure equipment. Install, terminate, label, test, and manage copper and fibre optic cabling systems. Carry out network patching, cable tracing, connectivity verification, cable dressing, and cable management to industry standards. Support equipment deployments, migrations, decommissioning projects, and infrastructure upgrades. Execute infrastructure changes under formal Change Management procedures, ensuring all activities are approved, documented, and completed in accordance with operational standards. Follow Method of Procedures (MOPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) when working in live environments. Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities within data centre facilities. Maintain accurate asset records, installation documentation, change control logs, and service reports. Liaise with customers, project managers, engineers, vendors, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, and site-specific operational procedures. Travel to customer and data centre locations across Europe as required. Skills & Experience Previous experience working within data centre, telecommunications, network infrastructure, electrical, or technical installation environments. Experience with rack and stack activities and hardware deployment. Knowledge of copper and fibre optic structured cabling systems. Experience with network patching, cable management, and connectivity testing. Familiarity with Smart Hands services and technical support activities. Experience installing and commissioning PDUs or working with critical power infrastructure. Understanding of Change Management processes and working within controlled operational environments. Ability to interpret and follow MOPs, SOPs, and technical documentation. Fluent English, both written and spoken. Willingness to travel extensively across Europe. Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and within international project teams.
